Noella Manyinkeng
“Alem Prisci is a movement. It is, especially, for the formidable woman."
Growing up in Cameroon, I always admired the elegance and poise of stylish women, especially my mother, who was my first style influence and inspiration. This deep fascination sparked my interest in the art of style and the world of fashion in general. After completing my degree in Accounting from the University of Buea, I pursued a career in accounting, but my passion for fashion never faded. In July 2018, I took the first step by founding Fonj, a made-to-order footwear brand that aimed to celebrate Cameroonian craftsmanship, challenge stereotypes, and provide high-quality shoes for men, women, and children. A year later, in 2019, I took a leap, leaving my accounting career to fully focus on Fonj.
With a focus on size inclusivity and a commitment to excellence, I personally sourced materials, designed, and was actively involved, in the crafting of our shoes, together with the rest of the Fonj team. My brand quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional quality, attention to detail, and ability to cater to diverse clientele, including; executives, fashion enthusiasts and individuals with specific needs such as, leg length discrepancy.
As one of the first women in Cameroon to venture into the uncharted industry, I took pride in pushing boundaries and inspiring a new generation of young Cameroonians to explore the field. However, after five years of growth and success, I felt the need to expand my horizons and offer more. This led to a pivotal moment in 2023, where I decided to rebrand Fonj to Alem Prisci.
With a focus on ready-to-wear footwear for every day, custom made, bridal shoes as well as other accessories, Alem Prisci is inspired by my mother and grandmother, my rich African heritage, the vibrant cultures that surround me, nature’s beauty and contemporary womanhood. Alem Prisci reflects my evolution as a designer, my commitment to creating high quality, authentic and sophisticated pieces, that empower women to, embrace their confidence and individuality. As I continue on this journey, I remain dedicated to sharing my creativity in the best possible way, celebrating African heritage, promoting dignity of labor, and inspiring others to chase their dreams fearlessly.
